Wear | Life | Eats

We finally made it to payday!  5 long gruelling weeks it was but we got there so I went out and spent some moola.  Obvs.  So here it this week's WLE.   Wear   I went out after work on Friday and the weather was still rather warm so I wore a black dress with fishnets, a black coat and my little cat shoes seeing as it was Halloween!  We sat outside and I wasn't really cold at all.   Similar here (link) Similar here (link)   Saturday night was a friend's birthday and again we were outside so I made sure to wrap up and put some tights on, the first time in about 6 months!  I wore a black bodycon skirt with a crop top and my beautiful boyfriend coat that I saw Millie Mackintosh wearing... yep, still obsessed.     Life   Friday night I went to this bar at Sloane Square.  It was really buzzing with people and had a nice vibe.  I like it around that part of town but no I didn't bump into anyone from Made in Chelsea!   Saturday was a com

Outfits of The Week

For this Monday's post I thought I would show some of the outfits I have worn over the past few weeks that I really enjoyed wearing.  I'm also a bit poorly today so I didn't feel like writing too much!  For all outfit details please check out my Instagram page @wonky_lauren

My Current Skincare Routine

I'm not sure whether I've ever done one of these posts but if I have it definitely hasn't been for a long time and there are a few recent purchases that I wanted to talk about. Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (link) I bought this a few weeks ago as I was looking for a good drugstore cleansing oil and had heard good things about this.  It did not disappoint.  Apparently it rivals the Clarins version.  I love the pump applicator and I just squirt one drop onto my fingers and then massage onto my skin.  It removes all my makeup, including waterproof mascara and then I just need to wash off with water and a muslin cloth or flannel. Arbonne Exfoliating New Cell Scrub (link) After I've removed my makeup I either use a face wash or this scrub and it's amazing.  It comes out like a clay substance and smells so fruity and zesty.  My skin feels really smooth after use.  The best thing about Arbonne products is that they're completely chemical free and vegan.

Wear | Life | Eats

Monday has rolled around again and I had quite a busy weekend so here is my latest edition of WLE.     Wear   Saturday I visited a lovely restaurant called Roast just above Borough Market and I heard that it's quite dressy in there on a Saturday so I wore a cut out Aztec dress from Missguided ( similar here and here ) with black studded heels from New Look ( similar here ) .  I threw my leather jacket over this to tone it down a little and also for a little warmth whilst at the train station.   Sunday I went for casual drinks at a pub in Wrotham, Kent.  It was very quiet and country-fied so I opted for skinny jeans, a white top and my grey Aztec cardigan.  Loving the Aztec this weekend clearly!   Link   Life   It's less than a month until my US holiday and I cannot wait.  I haven't been away since my Ibiza trip in June which was pretty full on to say the least and after the madness of starting my new job I am really looking forward to gett

My Favourite Highlighters

Before I got into makeup I had no idea how to use highlighter.  I think if someone had explained to me what it was I probably still wouldn't have used it.  The thought of adding glitter or shimmer to my face just reminded me of playing dress up as a little girl.  I was also confused by the idea of adding more shine to your face if your skin is quite oily anyway?   Now, however, it's a different story.  I completely get the idea of a highlighter and can see that it adds a subtle glow, lifting the cheek bones and giving the skin a hint of sex appeal.   The first highlighter that I tried was by The Balm and it was the Mary-Lou Manizer .  This is a white pearly skin of shimmer and I use it on the eyelids quite a lot too as well as the inner corner of my eyes.  It's just a great little compact and comes with a mirror.  I also want to try the Betty-Lou Manizer which has more of a golden glow and can be used all across the face for a bronzed Goddess look.   The other

Wear | Life | Eats

It's Monday (and what a miserable Monday we are having in London), I had a busy weekend so here is another instalment of WLE.   Wear Saturday I went to a friend's house warming party and then onto a club in South Kensington called Eclipse (although it may have recently changed names).  Normally I wouldn't go too dressy for a house party but because I knew we were going to a club afterwards I made more of an effort.  I wore this beautiful pale pink dress with a lace pattern on the sleeves and back.  It has long sleeves as I thought as the weather is getting a bit colder it suited well.  I teamed it with sky high black patent peep toes from Kurt Geiger, Hollywood glam curls and a bright coral lip.   Similar heated rollers here Similar dress here Revlon lipstick here Sunday I met a friend at Liverpool St to have a little mooch around the East End so I decided as we would be outside mostly that I should dress a little warmer so I went for my new

September Favourites

It's officially 1 October which means I get to say 'OMG where did September go/where is this year going?!'.  But seriously?   Here is everything I have been loving throughout the month of September.     Bracelets   I always forget to add accessories to my outfit, even though I really love them.  I'm normally in too much of a rush and don't have time to add anything but this month I've made a conscious effort to try and remember at least to throw on some bracelets and I've been really loving stacking them together.  I've got a few Links of London ones which is a classic brand that I love because it's Made in England and I'm all about supporting English brands and our economy.  The black one I bought when in Sydney at a market by The Rocks.  I saw a lot of peace signs in Sydney and so I wanted to get this as a reminder of my time there.  I also got a peace sign tattoo at the famous Bondi Ink but that's another story!

Wear | Life | Eats

I know my last few posts have been these but they're probably my favourite kind of posts to write, cover pretty much everything and I figured if I had quite a busy, interesting weekend then it would be nice to write about it on my blog.     Wear   Friday night I went out with work to a bar near London Bridge which we had hired out the upstairs function room.  I wanted to wear something that would work both in the office and in the bar so I went for a floral dress from Primark with a skinny belt, an orange (although my friends are calling it coral) blazer from Next and chunky wedged ankle boots from ASOS.  If I can find a photo of any of these items I will.   Similar   Similar   Saturday I went to Westow House in Crystal Palace for a friend's leaving drinks.  He is leaving London to travel the world for a year!  For this I opted for my faithful black strapless dress from French Connection, a metallic blazer from Missguided and magenta suede heels fr

Wear | Life | Eats: London Fashion Week

It's that time of the year again, Fashion Week!  Personally for me it's my favourite time of the year and the Autumn Winter catwalk trends are my favourite because I just love the winter fashion and think you can have so much fun with it so here's what I got up to last week.   Wear   This is probably the most important part of the post and the week.  I only went on one day so I had to narrow my outfit choices down but I did take a few photos so you could see what my options were.  I ended up going for black leather shorts, a lace body, sequin blazer and heels.  I'm finding my style to be a lot more classic with neutral colours these days (as I'm getting older haha) but I really like it.  What do you think?   Life   This was probably the best fashion week I've attended so far and I've been to about 6 of them now.  This time I went with 3 of my friends which was really lovely, especially as for one of them it was her fi

This is more of a catch up of what I've been up to these last few weeks as I realised I've haven't done one of these posts in a while and there's definitely been stuff going on!   Wear We find ourselves slowly entering Fall and the weather is starting to get a tad colder, especially in the evenings so I have been digging out my blazers to throw over my summer outfits which make the perfect transitional addition to take us through to Autumn.  There are some lovely pieces on the high street at the moment.  There is a cute mustard coloured dress in Tesco that I want for work here .  I also bought these brogues from Next recently because I didn't have any black ones and I thought these ones were super cool with their little platform.   Make sure you're following me on Instagram (@wonky_lauren) because I'll be doing outfit posts everyday in tribute to London Fashion Week.  I'll also be attending LFW this weekend so look out for my blog post next w

Non-Beauty Favourites

I spend most of my blogging time rambling on about the latest beauty products and which ones I'm loving so I thought it was about time I did a post on non beauty related products.  I am actually a HUGE music lover and also like trying out all the latest gadgets, so I'm not just a pretty face (joke)!   1. Morphy Richards Easy Blend   I'm still very much in love with my blender and use it 2-3 times a week.  I love researching the internet to find different yummy but healthy recipes that I can make breakfast smoothies in.  I'm not the best at eating lots of fruit and vegetables so I find this a great way to start the mornings off by throwing in a load of ingredients, whizzing them up and drinking them down.   2. Over-the-Head Headphones   I'm not actually sure of the correct name of these but you know the ones I mean, like what the DJs wear haha.  I bought some from Sony which are great but I am looking to invest in some Beats one because they just loo

Tried and Tested: Nivea Daily Essentials Eye Makeup Remover

Anyone that has read other of my posts or seen any of my videos will know that I have a love for L'Oreal's eye makeup remover.  It works so well and always removes all of my eye makeup.  I recently run out of mine which took almost a year to get through and so I needed to purchase another one.   I decided to pick some up in Tesco when doing my food shopping but they were out of stock and I noticed Nivea had one which was on offer for half price so I thought I may as well give it a try and I do love trying new products and also love a bargain!   The actual liquid is part oil and so has to be shaken properly before use.  I put a few drops on a cotton round and wiped it over my eye.  I didn't notice much difference in the removal process from the L'Oreal one but because of the oil in it I did find it a lot gentler and it made my lashes super soft afterwards.  It felt more delicate around my eye area and I've heard oil is supposed to make your lashes grow so t

Easy to Follow Night Out Makeup Look

I posted this photo of me on my Instagram (@wonky_lauren) before a night out and I really like how my makeup turned out so I thought I would give you a step-by-step guide.   On my face I used Benefit's Oxygen Wow foundation which is actually my favourite foundation ever.  It works so well on my skin and lasts ages on a night out.  It also has the perfect colour match for me when I've fake tanned.   Next I applied Fake Bake bronzer to my contour, forehead and neck.   Then I went in and did my eyebrows with the new Anastasia Dipbrow pomade which is another product that I can't live without.  It gives me perfect brows and is so easy to use.   On my eyes I used some bronze shades from my Naked palette and then the new L'Oreal eyeshadow in nude 204 which is absolutely stunning.  I coated my lashes with Better than Sex mascara which I am kind of going off as it seems to have gone very clumpy.   On my cheeks I have Sleek's rose gold blusher and on my l

August Favourites and My 100th Post

So starting off I'd just like to mention that this is post 100!  I started writing my blog last July and I never really thought I'd stick to it.  I've always enjoyed writing which is why I started it but with so many other things going on I never thought I'd have time to keep it up or get bored.  But honestly I love it, there have been times where I've missed a few posts here and there and I can't really commit to any kind of schedule due to personal/work life but I can't see myself giving up now.  So thanks to everyone that has read and enjoyed my blog.  It's been a pleasure :)   Now for my favourites.  It seems like it's been a longer month than average, maybe because I had to go 5 weeks between paydays!  Anyway, here's what I've been loving (click the title for links).   Rimmel BB Cream   This BB cream has got me through the whole summer.  It has a light to medium coverage, a nice glowy finish and stays all day.  I wore it in

Holiday Beauty Essentials

When I went to Ibiza last month I only went for 4 nights so I decided to only take hand luggage with me.  It obviously works out cheaper to only take hand luggage but it also limits the amount of stuff you can take, especially restrictions on liquids and creams.   In my make-up bag I packed:   BB Cream Concealer Powder Bronzer Brow pomade Brow gel 1 small eye shadow palette Eye liner Mascara False eyelashes Blusher 3 lipsticks Brushes   I know it seems a lot but it all fitted nicely into my Ted Baker makeup bag and were all under the 100ml limit.    I also packed makeup wipes to take it all off at the end of the night.    I didn't pack any skin care stuff as I thought for 4 nights it was not necessary and my skin always really clears up in the sun anyway so I felt that was enough.  However, a lot of shops such as Tesco and Boots do really good mini bottles that you can pour your favourites moisturisers and face washes into.  I think when

Summer Lookbook

Typically the weather has started to get colder this week (although today seems a bit warmer) but nevertheless I wanted to share some outfits I've been rocking this summer.       This is just a casual outfit I threw together for a girl's night in at my friend's house.  I wanted something comfortable but still cute at the same time so I wore this fringed t-shirt from H&M.  Fringing is still very much in at the moment and even my nan is a fan! (not for herself but for me :)).  I teamed it with these super comfy denim shorts from the Kate Moss for Topshop range.  I've had these for years but I love them.  They have rips and are frayed at the bottom.  Then I just threw on my trusty Converse and some dark grey ankle socks.        This is a dress I bought recently from Ruby Sky London .  It's the same as the one Olivia Palermo wore so I was really excited when I saw it as she's one of my style icons.  I wore it to my local pub with silver jazz
