We finally made it to payday!  5 long gruelling weeks it was but we got there so I went out and spent some moola.  Obvs.  So here it this week's WLE.
I went out after work on Friday and the weather was still rather warm so I wore a black dress with fishnets, a black coat and my little cat shoes seeing as it was Halloween!  We sat outside and I wasn't really cold at all.

Saturday night was a friend's birthday and again we were outside so I made sure to wrap up and put some tights on, the first time in about 6 months!  I wore a black bodycon skirt with a crop top and my beautiful boyfriend coat that I saw Millie Mackintosh wearing... yep, still obsessed.
Friday night I went to this bar at Sloane Square.  It was really buzzing with people and had a nice vibe.  I like it around that part of town but no I didn't bump into anyone from Made in Chelsea!
Saturday was a completely different area of town.  I went to a bar at Elephant and Castle for my friend's birthday.  It was a really cool outdoor bar with huge grounds, two stall selling hot Mexican food and even a stall doing face paints!  It was quite bizarre but really good and I would definitely go again.  Apparently they are going to get some fire pits for when it gets cold.  The bar was called Paperworks.
As I was out most of the weekend in bars and not eating out I decided to do a little home cooking of comfort food on Sunday.  I found a recipe on justaddmushrooms.com which was a mushroom and spinach lasagne.  Two of my favourite vegetables!  It came out delicious and I made enough to have for the next 2 nights!  I really like this website as mushrooms are my favourite thing to eat so I've made quite a lot of the recipes on here.
I hope you all had a good weekend/week.

Outfits of The Week

For this Monday's post I thought I would show some of the outfits I have worn over the past few weeks that I really enjoyed wearing.  I'm also a bit poorly today so I didn't feel like writing too much!  For all outfit details please check out my Instagram page @wonky_lauren

My Current Skincare Routine

I'm not sure whether I've ever done one of these posts but if I have it definitely hasn't been for a long time and there are a few recent purchases that I wanted to talk about.

I bought this a few weeks ago as I was looking for a good drugstore cleansing oil and had heard good things about this.  It did not disappoint.  Apparently it rivals the Clarins version.  I love the pump applicator and I just squirt one drop onto my fingers and then massage onto my skin.  It removes all my makeup, including waterproof mascara and then I just need to wash off with water and a muslin cloth or flannel.

After I've removed my makeup I either use a face wash or this scrub and it's amazing.  It comes out like a clay substance and smells so fruity and zesty.  My skin feels really smooth after use.  The best thing about Arbonne products is that they're completely chemical free and vegan.
This is another good little supermarket find.  I was doing my grocery shopping and looking for a toner and saw this one which is a rather large bottle and I think it was half price at the time so I thought I'd give it a try.  When I use it, it makes my skin feel a lot fresher and cleaner.
Then I go in with my old fave, the Boots facial oil.  I only use this of an evening but I find it really hydrates my skin as it can get quite dry.  I also like the fact that it's a very natural product and gets my skin really glowing.  I hated the idea of facial oils a year ago and now I can't get enough of them!
Lastly I go in with my moisturiser.  I use this morning and night.  the one I have is targeted at dry skin and is ultra hydrating but there are five different ones depending on your skin type.  I wouldn't say my skin is really dry, it's more normal to dry but when it comes to moisturiser I like quite a thick one.
So that's my basic skincare routine.  I do swap up the facial scrub with a facial wash every few days.  I feel like my skin is the best it's been at the moment.  I don't know whether that's down to diet, lifestyle or this skincare routine but everyone differs so it's important to find what works for you.

Wear | Life | Eats

Monday has rolled around again and I had quite a busy weekend so here is my latest edition of WLE.
Saturday I visited a lovely restaurant called Roast just above Borough Market and I heard that it's quite dressy in there on a Saturday so I wore a cut out Aztec dress from Missguided (similar here and here) with black studded heels from New Look (similar here).  I threw my leather jacket over this to tone it down a little and also for a little warmth whilst at the train station.

Sunday I went for casual drinks at a pub in Wrotham, Kent.  It was very quiet and country-fied so I opted for skinny jeans, a white top and my grey Aztec cardigan.  Loving the Aztec this weekend clearly!
It's less than a month until my US holiday and I cannot wait.  I haven't been away since my Ibiza trip in June which was pretty full on to say the least and after the madness of starting my new job I am really looking forward to getting away and relaxing for a couple of weeks.
And with my holiday looming also comes a healthy eating and fitness regime!  I have been trying new classes at my local gym and really enjoying them actually.  I find if I pack a gym bag, take it to work with me and then go straight after that, I do actually go rather than coming home and then not bothering to leave my sofa!
As I said, I went to a restaurant called Roast on Saturday night by London Bridge.  It's meant to be one of London's top restaurant and it was a bit more on the pricey side but the food was amazing.  I had Portobello mushrooms with melted cheese and poached eggs.  Then for dessert I had my favourite sticky toffee pudding but couldn't quite finish it all.  They also serve the yummiest cocktails.  I had one called 'Holiday' which was non alcoholic.  The only thing I would say about this restaurant is that I wasn't too impressed with the staff.  I found them to be quite rude which kind of ruined the experience but other than that I had a really good night and would like to go back for their Sunday service.

I hope you all had a good weekend.

My Favourite Highlighters

Before I got into makeup I had no idea how to use highlighter.  I think if someone had explained to me what it was I probably still wouldn't have used it.  The thought of adding glitter or shimmer to my face just reminded me of playing dress up as a little girl.  I was also confused by the idea of adding more shine to your face if your skin is quite oily anyway?
Now, however, it's a different story.  I completely get the idea of a highlighter and can see that it adds a subtle glow, lifting the cheek bones and giving the skin a hint of sex appeal.
The first highlighter that I tried was by The Balm and it was the Mary-Lou Manizer.  This is a white pearly skin of shimmer and I use it on the eyelids quite a lot too as well as the inner corner of my eyes.  It's just a great little compact and comes with a mirror.  I also want to try the Betty-Lou Manizer which has more of a golden glow and can be used all across the face for a bronzed Goddess look.
The other one I own is the Benefit High Beam which is a liquid formula.  I bought this because I'd heard great things about it and as much as it gives a pretty glow I find that where it is a liquid formula it sometimes rubs my foundation off?  I have started using it with a Complexion Sponge to dab it into the skin rather than wipe and that works a bit better.
The other highlighters I really want to try is MAC's soft and gentle.  The is probably the number one highlighter in the beauty world but I still don't own it.  Maybe a cheeky purchase on my trip to the states next month is in order!  I also want to try the Topshop one that comes in a contour kit as I think that would be good for travelling.  The Charlotte Tilbury one looks amazing but at £49 I'm not sure I can justify that on a highlighter!  A much much cheaper highlighter, however, is the one by MUA which gives a real wam bam shine for those special nights out.
Which are your favourite highlighters?

Wear | Life | Eats

It's Monday (and what a miserable Monday we are having in London), I had a busy weekend so here is another instalment of WLE.
Saturday I went to a friend's house warming party and then onto a club in South Kensington called Eclipse (although it may have recently changed names).  Normally I wouldn't go too dressy for a house party but because I knew we were going to a club afterwards I made more of an effort.  I wore this beautiful pale pink dress with a lace pattern on the sleeves and back.  It has long sleeves as I thought as the weather is getting a bit colder it suited well.  I teamed it with sky high black patent peep toes from Kurt Geiger, Hollywood glam curls and a bright coral lip.

Sunday I met a friend at Liverpool St to have a little mooch around the East End so I decided as we would be outside mostly that I should dress a little warmer so I went for my new Zara ripped skinnies, a white vest and this amazing loopy cardigan from Missguided.  It was so snug!
The club I went to Saturday was actually really good.  I thought it was going to be one of these squashy clubs that has too many people in it and playing rubbish music but the music was great and I spent most of the time on the dancefloor.  I would definitely recommend this place if you like funky house and r'n'b.
Sunday was such a lovely day.  The weather was gorgeous and we spent the day wandering around Spitalfields Market, Brick Lane and Shoreditch.  I really like Spitalfields and picked up this really cool fedora hat that I've been searching for for ages.  I'm quite particular with hats because you have to find one that suits you.
Friday I wanted a night in so I treated myself to a Chinese.  I was being lazy and wanted it delivered so had to spend a certain amount which was way too much food for me so I ended up eating the leftovers after my night out Saturday!
Sunday we went for a coffee in Brick Lane coffee which was really quirky and sold vegan food.  We later had lunch at Iguanas which is a Mexican place and I had mushroom fajitas, so yummy I ate 4 of them!
I hope you all had a good weekend.

September Favourites

It's officially 1 October which means I get to say 'OMG where did September go/where is this year going?!'.  But seriously?
Here is everything I have been loving throughout the month of September.
I always forget to add accessories to my outfit, even though I really love them.  I'm normally in too much of a rush and don't have time to add anything but this month I've made a conscious effort to try and remember at least to throw on some bracelets and I've been really loving stacking them together.  I've got a few Links of London ones which is a classic brand that I love because it's Made in England and I'm all about supporting English brands and our economy.  The black one I bought when in Sydney at a market by The Rocks.  I saw a lot of peace signs in Sydney and so I wanted to get this as a reminder of my time there.  I also got a peace sign tattoo at the famous Bondi Ink but that's another story!

I'm a HUGE music fan so I'm not going to go on and on about every song I've been loving and listening to this month but instead tell you what I've downloaded and if you have any suggestions you think I'd like then leave me a comment below.

This month I went to Hawksmoor which was bloody amazeballs and I wrote about it in this post so if you want to know more, check that out.
I also visited The Good Life Eatery in Chelsea because I saw Millie Mackintosh goes there a lot and we all know how much I love her haha.  It was really nice, quite small but we managed to get a table and I ordered an egg white omelette with spinach and courgettes and also a fruit smoothie.

I also went to Sketch but that was more for the epic cocktails!  Check the cocktail list out here.
My skin has not been great this month.  I seem to have had a few break outs because I think I've been burning the candle at both ends too much and not looking after myself properly, poor Lauren!  So I've been reaching for the concealer at a bit more than usual and my favourites have to be Mac Prolong Wear, this is high coverage and looks flawless.  I also like the Collection one for brightening and Boiing by Benefit to cover redness.
I'm not normally a candles person.  I have quite a few in my flat but I never burnt them until recently.  I find it very calming sitting in a room with a scented candle and the flame flickering away.  It's also nice to have them round the bath.  Always remember to blow them out at the end of the night though!
So those are my favourites, what have you been loving in September?

Wear | Life | Eats

I know my last few posts have been these but they're probably my favourite kind of posts to write, cover pretty much everything and I figured if I had quite a busy, interesting weekend then it would be nice to write about it on my blog.
Friday night I went out with work to a bar near London Bridge which we had hired out the upstairs function room.  I wanted to wear something that would work both in the office and in the bar so I went for a floral dress from Primark with a skinny belt, an orange (although my friends are calling it coral) blazer from Next and chunky wedged ankle boots from ASOS.  If I can find a photo of any of these items I will.
Saturday I went to Westow House in Crystal Palace for a friend's leaving drinks.  He is leaving London to travel the world for a year!  For this I opted for my faithful black strapless dress from French Connection, a metallic blazer from Missguided and magenta suede heels from New Look.  I also decided to go for a navy smokey eye using my new Collection palette and I was quite happy with how it turned out.  I curled my hair using a curling wand (tutorial here).

I really feel that I've settled into my new job role now and I'm absolutely loving it.  I'm so happy with the decision I made and so far have no regrets!  It was good to have work drinks with everyone on Friday and meet up with some people from my old office I haven't seen in a while as when I changed roles I also changed offices.  When I first moved there was so much change it was a little overwhelming but now I can see that change is a good thing.
I FINALLY bought the digital SLR camera that I've been going on and on about for ages.  I went for the Nikon D3200 and it's amazing.  I still need to have a good play around with it yet but look out for some super duper pictures coming haha.

I've never been out in Crystal Palace before but I really liked the place we went to.  It's a rather big venue, has a large outside area at the front and then it's rather quirky inside.  I would definitely go there again.
I was so busy this weekend I didn't get time to cook anything yummy as I do enjoy cooking so instead I was a bit naughty and ordered pizza!  I haven't had pizza in about 2 months to be fair and each weekend I do normally treat myself to a cheeky take away so Sunday was all about a half margarita half vegetable supreme stuffed crust.  Yep, I loooooooooooove me some cheese.
This week I have a craving for eggs so I think I might go for a easy and quick mushroom omelette.
I hope you all had a good weekend.  For more outfit posts follow me on Instagram @wonky_lauren

Wear | Life | Eats: London Fashion Week

It's that time of the year again, Fashion Week!  Personally for me it's my favourite time of the year and the Autumn Winter catwalk trends are my favourite because I just love the winter fashion and think you can have so much fun with it so here's what I got up to last week.

This is probably the most important part of the post and the week.  I only went on one day so I had to narrow my outfit choices down but I did take a few photos so you could see what my options were.  I ended up going for black leather shorts, a lace body, sequin blazer and heels.  I'm finding my style to be a lot more classic with neutral colours these days (as I'm getting older haha) but I really like it.  What do you think?

This was probably the best fashion week I've attended so far and I've been to about 6 of them now.  This time I went with 3 of my friends which was really lovely, especially as for one of them it was her first time so she was really excited.  The trends they showed in the catwalk were really great, there was pastel colours and also jungle fever which means lots of green, one of my favourite colours.  We got a goodie bag which was actually a Lulu Guinness tote bag filled with Maybelline make-up, Garnier skin care, Label M hair products and some other great stuff.  Here is me and my bestie having a bit of a model moment!

I know it's not very 'fashion' to eat but stuff that, I need my food and I love it!  So after a long day walking around looking at all the great stuff on offer we got the train home and stopped off for some takeaway fish and chips which completed the day superbly.  They were so yummy and just what I needed.  I relax at the weekend and generally eat what I want so I didn't feel guilt one bit!
Did anyone else go LFW?  What did you see?

Wear | Life | Eats

This is more of a catch up of what I've been up to these last few weeks as I realised I've haven't done one of these posts in a while and there's definitely been stuff going on!
We find ourselves slowly entering Fall and the weather is starting to get a tad colder, especially in the evenings so I have been digging out my blazers to throw over my summer outfits which make the perfect transitional addition to take us through to Autumn.  There are some lovely pieces on the high street at the moment.  There is a cute mustard coloured dress in Tesco that I want for work here.  I also bought these brogues from Next recently because I didn't have any black ones and I thought these ones were super cool with their little platform.
Make sure you're following me on Instagram (@wonky_lauren) because I'll be doing outfit posts everyday in tribute to London Fashion Week.  I'll also be attending LFW this weekend so look out for my blog post next week.
I'm still cracking away at my new job.  I'm working a longer hours and am absolutely shattered most nights but I love it so much I really can't complain.  I almost feel like I want to skip to work most days because I'm the happiest I have been in my career in a long time, is that sad?  Lol.  It's going really well.  I'm starting to get back into a healthy eating/exercise regime as that kind of went out the window when I first started my new role.  They have just started doing Insanity classes at my gym so I will be trying that this week, I will let you know how I get on!
I went to Hawksmoor last week which as a vegetarian would not be my first choice but let me tell you... So I went because my friend who is a huge meat lover wanted to go and for those of you not familiar with Hawksmoor it's like a glorified steakhouse and in fact they only had one vegetarian option on the menu which was not even very nice.  THEN, the dessert menu came over and all was forgiven.  OMG I have never seen a dessert menu like it.  There was so much choice I literally wanted all of it and there was so many caramel options and caramel is my favourite thing in the world.  I honestly think someone wrote that dessert menu especially for me haha!  Anyway, I didn't want to have everything, I've already eaten waaaaaaaayyy too much these past weeks so I went for the peanut butter shortbread as it came with salted caramel ice cream so I kinda figured I was getting two for one there ;)

Non-Beauty Favourites

I spend most of my blogging time rambling on about the latest beauty products and which ones I'm loving so I thought it was about time I did a post on non beauty related products.  I am actually a HUGE music lover and also like trying out all the latest gadgets, so I'm not just a pretty face (joke)!
I'm still very much in love with my blender and use it 2-3 times a week.  I love researching the internet to find different yummy but healthy recipes that I can make breakfast smoothies in.  I'm not the best at eating lots of fruit and vegetables so I find this a great way to start the mornings off by throwing in a load of ingredients, whizzing them up and drinking them down.
I'm not actually sure of the correct name of these but you know the ones I mean, like what the DJs wear haha.  I bought some from Sony which are great but I am looking to invest in some Beats one because they just look so cool and the sound quality is meant to be amazing.  I spend a lot of time with headphones on, I don't know why, I just prefer the music going straight into my ear and I can walk around the flat with them on when cleaning etc.
Bit of a random one and I can imagine a lot of people know and use this website already but it's so good and easy to use.  I always use it when ordering new credit cards or insurance AND you get a free cuddly toy haha.  Check out my bunny below with my latest Meerkat addition.

I read a lot, especially as I commute via train to work every day.  I never wanted to give in and get a Kindle because I like having an old fashioned book and I have a nice book case at home which I like to fill.  However, I probably walk about 3 miles every day and sometimes the books can be really heavy which is not good for my shoulders or back, especially as I have my bag one arm and not distributing the weight so I think it's time I give in and get myself an e-reader.
If you've read my other posts or watched any of my videos you will know I have a slight addiction to designer handbags.  The latest one I have my eye on is the little Lily bag by Mulberry.  I know this has been out a while now but I think it's a really good size and I haven't got many bags of this size (can you see how I make excuses for needing things!) so I may treat myself to this when I next get my work bonus!

Tried and Tested: Nivea Daily Essentials Eye Makeup Remover

Anyone that has read other of my posts or seen any of my videos will know that I have a love for L'Oreal's eye makeup remover.  It works so well and always removes all of my eye makeup.  I recently run out of mine which took almost a year to get through and so I needed to purchase another one.
I decided to pick some up in Tesco when doing my food shopping but they were out of stock and I noticed Nivea had one which was on offer for half price so I thought I may as well give it a try and I do love trying new products and also love a bargain!
The actual liquid is part oil and so has to be shaken properly before use.  I put a few drops on a cotton round and wiped it over my eye.  I didn't notice much difference in the removal process from the L'Oreal one but because of the oil in it I did find it a lot gentler and it made my lashes super soft afterwards.  It felt more delicate around my eye area and I've heard oil is supposed to make your lashes grow so this is an added bonus!
I'm not saying I don't like the L'Oreal one anymore, I really do and it does a great job but I do really really like the Nivea one too and will continue to use this for now.
What is your favourite eye makeup remover to use?

Easy to Follow Night Out Makeup Look

I posted this photo of me on my Instagram (@wonky_lauren) before a night out and I really like how my makeup turned out so I thought I would give you a step-by-step guide.
On my face I used Benefit's Oxygen Wow foundation which is actually my favourite foundation ever.  It works so well on my skin and lasts ages on a night out.  It also has the perfect colour match for me when I've fake tanned.
Next I applied Fake Bake bronzer to my contour, forehead and neck.
Then I went in and did my eyebrows with the new Anastasia Dipbrow pomade which is another product that I can't live without.  It gives me perfect brows and is so easy to use.
On my eyes I used some bronze shades from my Naked palette and then the new L'Oreal eyeshadow in nude 204 which is absolutely stunning.  I coated my lashes with Better than Sex mascara which I am kind of going off as it seems to have gone very clumpy.
On my cheeks I have Sleek's rose gold blusher and on my lips I'm wearing Impassioned by Mac which is a hot pink and looks great with my blue contacts.
How do you like to wear your makeup for a night out?

August Favourites and My 100th Post

So starting off I'd just like to mention that this is post 100!  I started writing my blog last July and I never really thought I'd stick to it.  I've always enjoyed writing which is why I started it but with so many other things going on I never thought I'd have time to keep it up or get bored.  But honestly I love it, there have been times where I've missed a few posts here and there and I can't really commit to any kind of schedule due to personal/work life but I can't see myself giving up now.  So thanks to everyone that has read and enjoyed my blog.  It's been a pleasure :)
Now for my favourites.  It seems like it's been a longer month than average, maybe because I had to go 5 weeks between paydays!  Anyway, here's what I've been loving (click the title for links).
This BB cream has got me through the whole summer.  It has a light to medium coverage, a nice glowy finish and stays all day.  I wore it in Ibiza, during festivals and to work.  The only down side is it only has 2 shades but other than that it's great.
I was probably a bit late to the party on this one and had been meaning to purchase the brush for ages but I finally got round to it and love it even more than I thought I would.  It's so soft, large enough to pick up the powder and you only have to do a few swipes of your face so good for quickness.  I use it for powdering and bronzing.
I picked one of their new nude shades up a few weeks ago and in the shop I really couldn't decide which one I wanted to try first as they all looked so pretty and shimmery.  I went for the goldy nude colour and it's so sparkly and pigmented.  I only put a small bit on my eye and it gave an amazing shimmer, I love it so much I want the whole collection!
I bought this pair when they were on offer in Sainsburys during my weekly grocery shop.  I really like L'Oreal hair products and trust them with my life!  So I wanted to give these a go because they claimed to make your hair thicker and restore breakage.  After having my extensions in for so long and dying my hair this is something I really need help with and I was not disappointed.
I've heard so much hype about this lashes I wanted to give them a go once my Ardell demi wispies had run their course.  I ordered them off eBay for about £3 and you just need to use your own glue which I have loads of from other lashes I've had over the years.  The ones I have are #43 I believe and are not too dissimilar to the demi wispies.  They have a real fluttery look without looking too over the top and heavy.  Very pretty and flirty and such a bargain!
I hope you enjoyed my 100th post, bring on the next 100!

Holiday Beauty Essentials

When I went to Ibiza last month I only went for 4 nights so I decided to only take hand luggage with me.  It obviously works out cheaper to only take hand luggage but it also limits the amount of stuff you can take, especially restrictions on liquids and creams.
In my make-up bag I packed:
BB Cream
Brow pomade
Brow gel
1 small eye shadow palette
Eye liner
False eyelashes
3 lipsticks
I know it seems a lot but it all fitted nicely into my Ted Baker makeup bag and were all under the 100ml limit.
I also packed makeup wipes to take it all off at the end of the night.
I didn't pack any skin care stuff as I thought for 4 nights it was not necessary and my skin always really clears up in the sun anyway so I felt that was enough.  However, a lot of shops such as Tesco and Boots do really good mini bottles that you can pour your favourites moisturisers and face washes into.  I think when I go away in November for 2 weeks then I will pack skin care stuff as I'll be taking a big suitcase!
What are your holiday beauty essentials?

Summer Lookbook

Typically the weather has started to get colder this week (although today seems a bit warmer) but nevertheless I wanted to share some outfits I've been rocking this summer.
This is just a casual outfit I threw together for a girl's night in at my friend's house.  I wanted something comfortable but still cute at the same time so I wore this fringed t-shirt from H&M.  Fringing is still very much in at the moment and even my nan is a fan! (not for herself but for me :)).  I teamed it with these super comfy denim shorts from the Kate Moss for Topshop range.  I've had these for years but I love them.  They have rips and are frayed at the bottom.  Then I just threw on my trusty Converse and some dark grey ankle socks.
This is a dress I bought recently from Ruby Sky London.  It's the same as the one Olivia Palermo wore so I was really excited when I saw it as she's one of my style icons.  I wore it to my local pub with silver jazz shoes.  I think it's really pretty but still casual and comfy at the same time.
This is another dress from Ruby Sky London.  I originally thought it was red but it's actually bright pink but that's fine because I love a bit of colour, especially in summer.  I bought this to wear to work but that I could go out in after, kinda of a office to bar type number and that's exactly what I did.  I met some old friends in London after work for cocktails and a catch up and this dress was perfect.  I wore it with tan sequin sandals from Primark.
The last outfit is one I wore for a friend's birthday dinner in London a few weeks ago when the weather was a lot warmer.  It's an all white outfit which I think looks lovely with a tan and then I added a bright scarf for a pop of colour.  The top is from H&M and I also have it in orange as they come in lots of colours.  The shorts are Mango, the scarf is Primark and the tan sandals are Tesco.
I hope you liked this post.  I haven't done one like this in a while and I missed doing them!  For more outfit inspirations follow me on Instagram @wonky_lauren
