Wonky Lauren x H&M

I've shopped in H&M since I can remember, back when I was little and it was called Hennes.  I remember going to the local shopping mall with my mum and her taking my sister and I to Hennes to buy matching outfits for our holidays haha.

H&M is such a great store though.  It does some really lovely up to trend pieces at affordable prices.  They have a wide range of clothing for babies, children, men and women and  they also have an amazing home section.  Not to mention they have some of the best workout clothes around!  Their products are available pretty much worldwide.

Over the years they have collaborated with some brilliant designers to bring out exclusive looks just for their customers.  H&M has always been one of my favourite stores (more on my favourite stores here) and I hope to continue shopping there when I have my own children.

Let's Talk Body Issues

Since joining Instagram about two years ago I can't help but notice how much girls bash each other over the way they look.  If someone has boobs and a bum, they're fat?  If someone has a flat stomach, they're too skinny?  It's terrible how judgmental society has become and even worse is the fact that they think it's okay to make these nasty comments.

I'm not saying everyone is like this, in fact, most people aren't.  I know someone who posts a bikini photo is asking to be looked at and scrutinised but you need to learn when to keep your thoughts to yourself.  Do you not stop and think how this might affect the person posting it?  That they are human beings with feelings?

I was always really skinny as a kid and am still quite naturally thin now but I hated it when people called me skinny.  The word skinny can be just as hurtful as calling someone fat. We need to learn to accept everyone as they are and realise that beauty comes from within.  I know this is all really cliche but I feel it's something that needs to be repeated.

Maybe these people are insecure themselves and that's why they hate?  Either way it's wrong and if they tried to accept and love themselves as they are then maybe they could do the same to others?  We should be supporting each other and lift each other up.  That's what will give people a confidence boost and isn't it nice to make someone feel good about themselves?

At the end of the day it's okay if you don't look like a Victoria's Secret model and if you want a slice of pizza every now and again, you go for it!  Don't be hard on yourself and definitely don't let other people make you feel bad.

What are your opinions on this, do you feel the same way?

Thursday Ten: You Know You're A Londoner When...

"London isn't everybody's cup of tea, often you hear visitors complain.  Noisy, smokey city but it seems to me there's a magic in the fog and rain" - Hubert Gregg.

So what does it take to be a true Londoner?  Born and raised here I've listed what makes me a Londoner and why I love it so.

1. Everyone's your mate whether you like them or not.

From a friendly "Alright mate" to a stern "Listen mate".  Oh, and those "bloody" tourists. We like to say bloody A LOT.

2.  You grew up eating pie and mash.

My dad loves a bit of pie and mash, so does my grandad and his dad too.  You can't have it without liquor though, that's the green sauce they pour on top made from parsley.  Lovely jubbly.  And if you were fortunate enough like me you got to visit the famous Manzies in Bermondsey.

3.  You have a tube map embossed on your mental fabric.

Yes I know which every coloured line correlates to and can tell you how to get anywhere in zone 1.

4.  You know your cockney rhyming slang.

My family are all Londoners so I was taught this from a very young age.  It's literally like their own language but quite easy when you know how.  See more here.

5.  Millwall Til I Die.  Forever Blowing Bubbles.  Goooooooooonersssssssss!

6.  You learnt to ride your bike/roller skate in one of our amazing parks.

My grandparents live in Greenwich so I spent a lot of time here over summer holidays and this is where I learnt to ride my bike.  I also have great memories of roller blading around the band stand!

7.  You grew up watching Only Fools & Horses and On The Buses.

8.  You've met a Pearly King or Queen and know how to do the Lambeth Walk.

Not only have I met a Pearly King and Queen, I've even dressed as one and did the Lambeth Walk on stage at the London Palladium.

9.  You learnt nursery rhymes such as London Bridge is Falling Down.

10.  You truly believe you live in the best city in the world.  And you're right :)

So how bloody London are you me old china?

Caribbean Cruise Packing Guide

Back in November I went on my very first cruise on my very first trip to the Caribbean.  I was lucky enough to visit the beautiful islands of The Bahamas, St Maartens, Puerto Rico and Turks & Caicos and you can see more of that here.

When you go on a cruise it's different to other holidays and so you have to pack slightly differently.  You want more practical clothing than your average beach attire for during the day as there'll be lots of exploring to do.  In the evenings on the ship things get a bit more fancy and we had two elegant nights where we had to dress up a bit more.

Here are some ideas of what to bring:

Friday Favourites: My Cookbook Collection

I was never really in to cooking.  I just didn't know how and always ended up burning things.  There was once an incident when I tried to cook beans on toast and I put a slice of bread on a plate with cold beans on top and shoved it in the oven for 20 minutes (plate included!).  Needless to say the beans and bread were completely burnt and the plate cracked as soon as I removed it with my masterpiece (ahem) falling on the floor.  Mum was not happy one bit!

However, now I live by myself I started to get into cooking a bit more.  I'm still not great at it and use the microwave a lot (not microwave meals for one might I add!) but I actually really enjoy it.  I never feel confident enough to cook for others but that's okay, more for me :)

Here are some great cookbooks I have in my collection, mainly of healthy recipes, that have given me inspiration over the last few years.

Do you have any recommendations for me?  I can't wait to buy Millie Mackintosh's Made book when it's released next month.

Hope you're all having a Happy Friday, I'm off out to enjoy the sun.  Peace!

11 Healthy Habits You Need To Make

I'll admit it, I'm not the healthiest of people but I don't think I'm the worst either.  I try to be healthy 5 out of 7 days of the week which I don't think is too bad.  We are human after all and if we tried to be healthy all the time we would just end up crashing and all the hard work will be wasted.  That said, here are a few little changes you can make to becoming more healthy.

1. Drink more water

I take a bottle of water everywhere I go and fill it up during the day.

2. Eat more fruit

Add it to your breakfast or morning smoothie, snack on it during the day, having it as dessert after dinner.

3. Walk as much as you can

I literally walk everywhere as most Londoners do.  I walk to and from the station and the gym every day so see where you can fit walks in your daily routine.

4. Get enough sleep

Yay an excuse to sleep more!  We should get around 8 hours a night but for some reason I need 9 to function ;)

5. Exercise at least 3 times a week

This is what the experts recommend for you to really reap the benefits and make sure it's for at least 20 minutes each time or it won't do anything.  I workout 6 times a week and you can see more on that here.

6. Swap up foods

So swap your usual junk food for healthier alternatives.  E.g. rather than a chocolate bar or bag of crisps have some fruit or nuts.

7. Pick your cheat days

Mine are Fridays and Saturdays bcos I know those are the days I'm more likely to eat out or veg in front of the telly.

8. Switch off from social media

In this day and age we can get really obsessed by what's on the internet and that's not healthy so switch off for an hour or two a day and you'll feel a lot better I promise.  You can read more on that here.

9. Try to get in some protein

Protein is so important in many ways.  It helps build muscle and restore it.  It will also keep you feeling fuller for longer so less likely to snack!  I like my protein in quorn or egg form and you can read more of my vegetarian eats here.

10. Prepare meals

This is something I need to get better at but some people cook up a whole batch of food for the week and freeze it when they haven't got time to cook.  I do always take my own lunch to work however and I like to write a shopping list before I do my groceries.

11. Take a holiday/vacation

Holidays are a great way to de-stress and switch off from our worries.  I know we can't always afford a luxurious get-away but stay-cations are becoming really popular now so go explore your own town or do what I just did and look out for cheap flights on Ryanair starting at just £9.99!

Do you have any healthy habits to add to my list?

Wear | Life | Eats: Clubbercise and Sweet Potatoes

This weekend was different but fun!  I did a Clubbercise class Friday night and Saturday I went to a friend's for dinner.

For the Clubbercise class I wore a grey workout top from LA Gear (similar here) and blue tracksuit bottoms from Next (similar here) with my black Nike trainers.

On Saturday I opted for all black with black ripped skinny jeans and a black band t-shirt as we were just chilling at home.

The Clubbercise class I went to was really fun.  It's basically an aerobic style exercise class to club/dance music.  And the best part is they switch all the lights off and have disco lights going round AND you get given glowsticks to hold and wear.  So fun!!  I really worked up a sweat even though it didn't feel like I was working out at all.  For more information on classes visit their website here.

My friend and I found a recipe online that we wanted to try and we just adapted it a little.  We took a sweet potato and put it in the microwave for 5 minutes to soften it up.  Then we cut it in half topped it with pesto, tuna and cheese and put it in the oven until the cheese had melted.  We then placed them on a bed of rocket and spinach with some cherry tomatoes.  It was so yum!  For afters we had banana bread which just finished me off.  We had such a fun girlie evening, gossiping and indulging in our favourite foods.

How was your weekend?

Wonky Lauren x Eos

Until about a year ago I'm not sure I'd even heard of Eos.  As far as I know you can't buy this brand anywhere in the UK.  However, I had seen a few beauty YouTubers using them in their videos and they just looked so cute and cool.  Then when I went over to The States last November I spotted them in Walgreens and I couldn't believe how unbelievably cheap they were so I picked one up in Passion Fruit.

Since then I have become obsessed and have a whole collection of them.  I even moved onto the hand cream they've just come out with when I visited Ulta the last time I was in the US.

These are such cute little lip balms (did I explain they were lip balms?) and can easily just be thrown into your handbag when you're on the go.  They're so different and unique to any other lip balms, I always get people asking me about them whenever I pull one out of my bag.  I even got my best friend and sister hooked!

If you're in the US you can probably buy them anywhere, in the UK your best bet is Amazon although they might be a little more pricey.  If you have a trip to the US planned any time this year I would highly recommend stocking up on these.  They leave your lips so soft and my favourite thing other than the packaging is probably the different scents they come in.  They smell good enough to eat!

Have you tried any Eos products?

Thursday Ten: My Sunglasses Collection

Only 9 of the sunglasses I've listed below are from my collection.  I do have more but I don't wear them so I only wanted to show the ones I actually wear and then one other pair I'm currently craving.

I have to admit it I'm a little sunglasses obsessed, especially seeing as I live in London where we barely see the sun!  I feel they just pull an outfit together and add a little edge.  Sometimes we just want to wear them when we don't feel like showing our face as something to hide behind.  Whatever the reason it's always wise to invest in a good pair of sunnies... or 9 ;)

Top: Celine
Bottom: eBay

Top: Primark
Bottom: Topshop

Top: H&M
Bottom: Rayban

Top: Primark
Middle: Topshop

These are the ones I'm craving from MiuMiu.  My favourite colour is red and I can't believe I don't own a red pair of sunnies!  I'm just hoping they suit me.  I really like the glitter ones they do too, so pretty.

My London Bucket List

London has been my home forever.  In my 20 odd years I've never lived anywhere else, which may seem a bit sad but I just love London and would never want to call anywhere else home.  As the old adage goes "when a man is bored of London, he is bored of life" and it's true.  London has so much to offer and something for everyone.

Saying that, I've always had dreams of living abroad; Paris, New York, Sydney and it got me thinking, before I go off on a big adventure there's still a few things in London I haven't ticked off my bucket list.  There is honestly so much to see and do in this City and with new things being announced all the time, it would take a whole lifetime to see.

So here's what I've come up with so far:

1.  Jack The Ripper Tour
2.  Ronnie Scott's
3.  Brick Lane Curry
4.  The Globe
5.  Battersea Power Station
6.  Afternoon Tea at Buckingham Palace [gardens]
7.  The Old Bailey
8.  Boris Bikes
9.  China Town on Chinese New Year
10.  London Pride
11.  Brockwell Lido
12.  London Aquatics Centre
13.  Kew Gardens

There's probably some main ones I haven't mentioned because I've already done them but what do you have on your London bucket lists that I could add to mine?
