Denim & Leather

My favourite ever combo, an oldie but a goodie!  These two have been partners in crime forever and it's not hard to see why.  Pairing denim and leather together can create so many different looks for different occasions and I've shown some of my favourites below and links to where you can recreate the looks.

My Favourite Looks From Fashion Week

Last month was 'Fashion Month' with showcases and catwalks taking place each week in different locations across London, New York, Paris and Milan.  Although I have been attending London Fashion Week for several years now, this time around I was in California and unfortunately could not attend any shows.

However, that did not stop me from catching up once I was back from my trip to check out all the latest trends.  I was also browsing the Esprit website and noticed they had some awesome pieces just like the trends seen on the runway last month. Here are some of my favourites that I think are going to be hot this season and where you can copy the looks for less!

Floral prints at Gucci.  You can shop the look for less here.

All black at Marc Jacobs.  Shop the look for less here.

Bows at Chloe.  Shop the look for less here.

Sparkles at Alexander McQueen.  Shop the look for less here.

Not only does Esprit do runway trends for less but they also have great casual items, work wear pieces and I LOVE their sportswear range.  Check it out!

Udon noodles

Cook the noodles.  Stir fry the vegetables and tofu.  Mix together with soy sauce.

Dinner 3

Dinner 5

Silken tofu
Nutritional yeast

Slice the courgette into strips and place across a baking dish as you would lasagne sheets.  Then add some pasta sauce.  Mash the tofu and yeast in a bowl together and then layer this into the dish.  Repeat these steps until all ingredients are gone and then cook in the oven for 20 minutes.

Stylist Live, London

On Sunday I got to attend the Stylist Live event in Angel, London.  I've never actually been to one before and didn't know too much about it other than the Stylist magazines they hand out at the stations every week.  In actual fact though it turned out to be one of the best fashion events I've ever attended. There was so much to see and do.

There were various talks and catwalk shows going on throughout the day and loads of stalls selling clothes, accessories, makeup and food.  The talks we got to attend were one on skincare by Caroline Hirons, who by the way is absolutely hilarious and well as super knowledgable in the beauty world.  I learnt so much from her and now can't wait to use this as excuse to buy more skincare products!

We then attended one of the catwalks showing the 5 different trends of this season; Sportswear, Velvet Goldmine, Intergalactic, Spice World and The Navy Coat.  What I loved about this catwalk was that they gave you a leaflet before sitting down showing where you can shop the looks and they're are all from high street brands, win!

Then we attended a talk on how to sleep better and have more energy.  I was pretty interested to hear this and get some good tips as although most nights I sleep well, I sometimes wake up in the night and definitely don't feel too energized during the day.  One of the tips she did suggest was to eat breakfast within 30 minutes of rising which I am going to try.

After that we walked around and looked at the stalls.  They had a Urban Decay stall with artists giving demonstrations.  I love their makeup!  They also had a Look Fantastic stand which had their beauty boxes so my friend and I decided to get one for £10 each and they had 7 products inside.  The products are great including a Wet Brush, eyebrow shaper, Mr Blanc teeth whitening strips, Cow Shed hand cream, Illamasque lip liner, Ren face cream and Eve Lom cleanser (sample).

Have you ever attended the Stylist Live event?

I will definitely go again next year!

Los Angeles Travel Guide

What to See and Do

One of the first things we did after arriving in LA was head to Santa Monica, hire bikes and cycle around Venice.  This was probably my favourite thing I did the whole time I was here.  It was so nice being able to get around so quickly and see everything we wanted.  Venice was definitely my favourite place in LA and Santa Monica reminded me a lot of Brighton.. but way better haha.

After being in the States for a week and packing so much in already, we fancied a nice chilled out beach day so we thought where better to head than Malibu.  There's not loads to do here but it is a lovely beach.  It's great for surfers if that's your thing but I prefer to watch them haha.  It's also pretty cool checking out all the huge beach houses.

If there's one thing you must do it's hike the Hollywood hills.. although it's not for the faint hearted and probably best to go when it's not the height of sunshine!  We went for the middle trail which was 6 miles there and 6 miles back.  It was such a hot day and there was no shade or anywhere to stop for water so be warned!  The view is absolutely worth it though.

We also visited the Walk of Fame which is pretty cool but really busy.  It's fun to try and find your favourite movie stars or singers.  Along here you will also find the Chinese Theatre which has all the stars' handprints.

On our last night we went to see an Ice Hockey game at The Staples Centre.  I would have loved to have seen a Lakers game but it was out of season.  If you're into sports definitely check out what they have on at the Staples Centre as there's always something interesting and I love that they sing the national anthem before every match haha.

Where to Eat

LA is legit a vegan's dream.  There were so many places here I have never found it so easy to eat out as a vegan.  There were actually too many places that I was spoilt for choice and didn't get to try all of them (By Chloe :()  But we did go to:

800 Degrees Pizza
The Butcher's Daughter
True Food Kitchen
Malibu Farm
Engine Co No 28

Where to Shop

I didn't find the shopping in LA as good as in Vegas but that sure didn't stop me spending a good buck!  We went to Target and CVS for drugstore makeup and also Sephora in Santa Monica (you can see my haul post here).

If you have a more expensive taste be sure to check out Rodeo Drive in Beverley Hills for all things luxury and designer.

Where to Stay

Unlike Vegas, LA is so spread out that's it's really hard to pick a good spot that's close to everything.  We stayed in Downtown which was perfect for us as it had great transport links to a metro station that went everywhere and the journeys are pretty cheap at only $1.50.

Another good choice if I went back would be Santa Monica as you're right on the beach, close to Venice and there's a lot going on here.  We pretty much came here everyday.

I also liked Beverley Hills for a more luxury stay and some of the hotels there were beautiful.

Hope that helps!  Leave any more LA tips below.
