January Faves: Beauty, Skincare & Makeup Reviews

So we're at the end of January already and I thought I would show you a few things I've been loving this month.  There's not loads as I haven't been using heaps of new products but I thought I'd share with you what I have been using.

First is this liquid eyeliner by Benefit.  I got this from my sister for Christmas so have been using it for about a month now.  I really like the winged eyeliner look but could never get it quite right on myself and this one makes it really easy because the tip is so small so you can be pretty precise with it.  It also wipes off quite easily if you make a mistake.  I also like that it drys looking shiny.

Next is this facial scrub by Olay.  I actually only bought this because it was on offer in Superdrug but I do really like it.  I have dry/normal skin so it doesn't dry my skin out too much and is quite gentle and smoothing.  I feel like it's really cleared up any blemishes I had and I use it every 3 days although I'd say you could probably use it everyday if your skin isn't too sensitive because it really is so gentle.

Another Benefit product!  I'm sure most of you have heard all the hype about this and it's apparently the best selling primer in the beauty world at the moment.  I can totally believe that because it really does work wonders.  It minimises pores and creates a beautifully smooth canvas for you to apply your foundation.  It does seem a little pricey but I think the tube will last quite a while because you only need a small amount and it is so worth it.  If you don't have this primer already, WHY NOT?!

I have been absolutely loving this palette ever since I bought it about a month ago and have not stopped using it since!  It is a must have if you love nude colours on your eyes like I do.  I'm a big fan of the Naked palettes but I find they don't always offer a lot of matte colours.  This palette has an equal mix of matte and shimmer colours so it's great if you don't want to keep swapping between palettes, you don't have much time to get ready or can only pack one palette for going away.

This was another gift for Christmas from my mum.  I really wanted a nice lipgloss because I think it's nice when you're up and topping it up to pull out something nice looking from your bag (yeah I'm a bit of a snob like that!).  This one is a really pretty shade too, it's a pale pink with a hint of shimmer so can be worn on it's own over the top of your favourite lippie.

The last product I wanted to tell you about is this bath oil by REN.  I add a little to my bath and it not only smells lovely but leaves your skin really soft which I don't always find with a lot of bath products as I find a lot of them will get diluted by the mass of water in the bath.  It is a bit on the pricey side but a little goes a long way and I generally take showers so will only treat myself to a bath once a week (if I have time!).

That concludes my January favourites.  I hope you enjoyed this post.  Check out my last video showing my January sales haul: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_11Pa5u9dc&feature=c4-overview&list=UUt2bURXIbiN1EG4MPnfNonw

The Perfect Backpack

I'm looking for a backpack that I can take to work so will be smart but also stylish/up to date/on trend.  As much as I love my other *ahem* designer handbags, like most girls I pack them out with so much rubbish that it becomes too heavy for my little arms to carry to work and back every day (I walk about 2 miles everyday).  I am also concerned about back and shoulder problems that could ensure from carrying a heavy bag on the same arm every day.  If I had a backpack I could wear this on both shoulders and evenly distribute the weight.  However, I don't want some geeky backpack, sports bag or kiddy rucksack.  I want something stylish and trendy that will look smart for work so I have been on the hunt for the perfect backpack and thought I would share my findings with you...

First up is this black leather one by Phillip Lim.  It's on the pricey side at £740 but I wanted to put in a mixture of designer and high street on here.  I do love my designer bags though as I find them an investment because if you look after them and if they're well made (which one would expect at such a high price), they will last forever.

Next is another black one by Topshop.  This one is a bit more funky with it's tassels and you could use it outside of work, at festivals etc too because it has a kind of hippie vibe to it.  The only problem I would find is that it's suede therefore could get ruined in the rain.  Other than that I think it's a great backpack for just £65.

Then there's this one by Alexander Wang but which I wasn't too sure on at first but the more I look at it, the more I like it.  I also think Cara Delevinge has this so it's quite a funky street style bag but I think it looks smart at the same time.  It comes in 3 different colours.  Because I was not 100% sure on it I don't think I would go for this one as at £915 it's a lot of money to spend when you're not sure on something.

Then I found this one at Accessorize which is a light coloured one so would be nice for summer.  It looks rather big in size and a bargain at just £35.  My only qualm with this one would be that the light colour could get tarnished quickly and be hard to keep clean. Especially if like me you have to travel on dirty public transport.

That is about all the decent backpacks I could find.  Who knew it could be so hard to find a bag!  I hope you found this post useful and let me know if find the perfect backpack.

My Top 5 MUST HAVE blushes!

These are some of my top favourite blushes at the moment.  I tried to make sure I had a good colour range and mixture of drugstore/high end products.

Bobbi Brown - apricot

First up is one by Bobbi Brown that I recently bought.  I'm a real fan of peachy toned blushers and don't like anything too pink so this one is perfect if that's the kind of shade you like too.

MAC - dollymix

It was really hard to choose only one MAC blusher as there are so many I like.  As I said, I wanted to show a mixture of shades so I thought I would go for a more pinky toned one. Although I do prefer peachy tones I do quite like to wear a pink on my cheeks if I'm going out in the evening as I find that it shows up more than the peach ones and you can't get more pink than dollymix!

Nars - orgasm

I don't think this one needs much of a review as it's a beauty cult product.  This gives a nice flushed glow to the cheeks and can be built up to your desired colour.

Rimmel - smoked oyster

This blush is more of a pinky brown and great for a subtle daytime look.  I think it was a pretty popular colour in the beauty world and I'm not sure you can even get hold of this one anymore.  Maybe try Amazon or eBay.

Sleek - rose gold

This is a beautiful shimmery pale pink colour.  It's great for nights out and doubles up as a highlighter.  And it's a bargain too at only £4.50!

I hope you found this useful and I think they're all worth checking out if you're looking for a new blush to add to your collection :)

Urban Decay De Slick Mattifying Powder Review

I got this product as a gift for Christmas from my sister so I've been using it for about a month now and thought I would do a little review of it.

Before using this powder I always used my drugstore favourite, Rimmel Stay Matte.  I still absolutely love this product but wanted something a little more high end for night's out as I find that I have to touch up the Rimmel one a few times throughout the day.

So starting off with the packaging I really like this.  It's quite chunky which I prefer because it means I'm less likely to drop it!  It comes in a round purple compact and has a mirror inside which is great for on the go. I was quite surprised when I saw the powder inside as it is totally white.  The Rimmel one I have is translucent but is still kind of a light beige/skin colour.  This is bright white.

However, when applied to the skin it doesn't show up white at all and instantly mattifies. I use this on my forehead, nose, chin and under my eyes to set my concealer.  I find it does last quite a few hours, maybe not all day but longer than the Rimmel one.

You can't see the powder once it's on at all and just gives you a really matte look in the places you need it.

I would definitely recommend this product.  However, I didn't find a great deal of difference between this and the Rimmel one so if you were looking for a cheaper drugstore alternative then Rimmel Stay Matte is great also.

I hope this little review helped :)
