How To Keep Your Healthy Lifestyle Going
I know
you probably don’t want to think about being healthy right now with Christmas
looming so close and the season to overindulge!
But I can bet you will want to think about being healthy in, say, 10
days time so I thought I’d get in there early.
I think
the hardest thing about having a healthy lifestyle is sticking to it. All of us can do it, we can eat healthy if we
want to and work out but how long does that last? I am very guilty of not sticking to a healthy
lifestyle since I moved back in September!
I kept making excuses and now here I am in December thinking, well what’s
the point in trying now? There’s no need
to feel bad about this though and that’s not what this post is about. I want to try to put out some positive vibes
to help motivate and stick to a healthy lifestyle, myself included!
So
first things first, what is a healthy lifestyle? I guess it differs for everyone. For me it’s a healthy but balanced
diet, exercising at least 3-4 times per week, getting 8 hours sleep per night,
not smoking and limiting my alcohol intake to just once per week. This for me is attainable and so you need to
figure out what works for you before anything else otherwise it’s all going to
go horribly wrong and you’ll end up not sticking to it again.
Plan
I find
writing a plan down helps. I have one
for meals I want to eat and one for workout classes at the gym I want to do.
Prep
Meal prepping
is key. I love to use Pinterest for
finding healthy and plant based recipes.
I can then plan out what I want to cook that week and I try to make enough
for leftovers so that I can have that for lunch the next day too.
Routine
Getting
into a routine will help you go to bed at a reasonable time. If I’m working late and then going to the gym
I will get my boyfriend to cook so that I can eat as soon as I get home, shower
and be in bed by 10.30. We generally take
it in turns to cook though so we will try to work around that. It’s all just about planning really.
If I know
I am going out on Saturday night I will try not to drink Friday night. I never drink during the week either unless
it’s Christmas time of course! I also
try to eat plant based Sunday to Thursday and then allow myself the odd bit of
cheese or milk chocolate on a Friday and Saturday. Balance is key!
So those are my tips. Do you have any to share?
