Items In My Wardrobe That Went From Trend To Staple

One of my goals for 2021 is to stop buying trends and start investing in staples.  However, sometimes a trend becomes a staple which you can't always predict, here are some of my favourites that will definitely be sticking around:

Smart Joggers

Pre-Covid, joggers for me were always something I wore in the house only or maybe just to run errands or do the groceries.  Fast forward 12 months and having to work from home pretty much full time, I decided I wanted something a little smarter but still just as comfy and so my fiance bought me these smart joggers from Topshop which I think are the perfect mix of smart casual.

Jumper
Trousers
Shoes

Hunter Boots

These definitely started as just a trend almost 10 years ago when I attended a lot of festivals.  I would never have worn wellies anywhere else but figured I would get my money's worth seeing as I was attending around 5 festivals a year.  Now, however, with my festival days behind me (okay, maybe the odd one once a year) I still wear my Hunters on dog walks in the country and snow days in the city.

Raybans

These were the sunglasses that started my addiction.  My first pair was a black pair of wayfarers that I still have and wear today.  I then went onto the rounds of which I bought 2 pairs.  I love Raybans because I think they just look super effortless and classic but they're also pretty affordable.  The quality is great and they last ages but never seem to go out of style.

Grandad Cardigans

I suppose this is a trend that has been around a while but I never expected it would be.  I bought a few over the years but only in the last couple of years have I been reaching for them more and more.  Maybe because my style has changed in the last 2 years or maybe because we are spending more time at home and wanting to be comfortable but I think these cardigans will be in my wardrobe for a long time to come.

Ankle Boots

Hands down my favourite style of footwear.  I've lost count of the amount of ankle boots I've bought over the years, I just find them so versatile.  They can be dressed up, dressed down, worn to the office, bar, on walks; they literally go with everything and so I think this would be a firm staple in my wardrobe.  I have many different types from chunky heels, platforms, military and sock boots.  Ankle boots are definitely not going anyway in my wardrobe!

What items do you have that started as a trend but are now a firm staple?
