October Favourites 2013: Beauty, Makeup & Jewellery!

Here are all the things I have been loving in the month of October.

Bag

The bag I have constantly been using all throughout October, pretty much every day in fact is my new Valentino bag.  I posted a photo of this on my Instagram (@wonky_lauren).  It’s a lovely grey and cream mix of soft leather with a long strap which I leave hanging down and a shorter strap.  The best thing about this bag is that it doesn’t look absolutely massive but you can fit a lot into it.  This makes it perfect for work etc because you can shove everything you need for the day in there.  My bag is literally a Mary Poppins’ bag because I hoard so much stuff in it!

Shoes

The shoes I have been loving this month are actually my new River Island boots.  I think I’ve already blogged about these and I certainly featured them in my clothing haul video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKKpatnRsNg) but I honestly love these so much!  I don’t know if I told you the story behind them but basically I saw Mille Mackintosh in a pair of these boots from Russell and Bromley which were Stuart Weitzman at £395 (http://www.russellandbromley.co.uk/long-boots/50-50/invt/372099).  I didn’t really want to spend that on a pair of boots and then I came across these which are literally identical and only £60!  So I was really really happy with this purchase and have been getting lots of wear out of them.  Navy is going to be really big for this season too.

Skincare

Two skincare products I have been using lots in October are my L’Oreal Gentle Eye Make-up Remover (http://www.superdrug.com/clearer-skin/loreal-eye-make-up-remover-125ml/invt/73395) and Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream (http://www.dermalogica.co.uk/uk/html/products/skin-smoothing-cream-15.html) for dry or prematurely aging skin.  I featured these in my beauty haul video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U19dhsvlZoU). The make-up remover is excellent because I tend to wear a lot of mascara or waterproof mascara which can sometimes be hard to get off at the end of the day or when only using a make-up wipe so after I’ve used a make-up wipe and washed my face I then use this to get off the excess and it literally removes everything.  I think it’s a really good price too and will probably last me ages.

The moisturiser I really like because it makes your skin so soft and smoothing and literally does exactly what it says on the label!  I have quite dry skin so it is quite thick, I’m not sure I would recommend this for oily skin but I think they do an oily version too.

Bodycare

I’m not always great at putting lotions and potions onto my body and can sometimes neglect my skin.  I think I just find it quite time consuming and I’m always so busy that it gets forgotten.  However, something that I do always make time for is fake tan!  The one I have been loving this month is the Superdrup Solait Tinted Bronzing Lotion in dark (http://www.superdrug.com/superdrug/solait-tinted-bronzing-lotion-dark-tan/invt/385358) this also comes in light and medium.  It’s a bargain at £6.99 and they’re always doing offers such as half price or two for £10.  I really like this lotion because it goes on easily using a mitt, dries quickly and doesn’t give too much of a fake looking tan if that makes sense.  So it only gives a nice glow with one coat or you can apply more for a heavier tan, depending on what you want.

Make-up

Make-up that I’ve been enjoying wearing a lot this month is my Urban Decay NAKED palette as always.  This is my ultimate favourite eye shadow palette and although it’s pricey it is SO WORTH IT!!  I am definitely 100% going to get the Naked 2, I can’t wait to try that out.  I did a blog post recently on a look I created using this palette so be sure to check that out!

Another make-up product I’ve been luving is my MAC prolong wear concealer.  This concealer is so good for under the eyes and never creases.  I get quite dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep and this covers them up making me look like I’ve had a good 9hrs kip!  It’s also good for covering up blemishes.  It can come out quite thick but if used right and blended in well it’s amazing.

The last make-up product I’ve been wearing a lot this month is a lip crayon by Avon (http://avonshop.co.uk/product/make-up/lips/avon-ultra-colour-lip-crayon.html).  I wanted a lip crayon for ages but didn’t want to pay out for the Clinique chubby stick if I didn’t like it.  I love the Avon version though and it’s a steal at just £5.50 (although I got it on offer so it may have gone up slightly now).  It’s very buttery like and lasts quite a while.  I got mine in the colour notice me nude.

Jewellery

Jewellery is the one thing I don’t wear enough of.  I always seem to forget to put it on, namely because I’m always running late and in a rush to get out the door!  But I have been loving shorter statement necklaces this month and I went to New Look recently and purchased two.  These are also featured in my clothing haul video.  The first one is lots of little rings of gold, diamante and nude (http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/jewellery-and-hair-accessories/gold-bead-stone-necklace-_278607470) and the second one has little gemmed flowers on it (http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/jewellery-and-hair-accessories/pink-and-gold-rope-flower-gemstone-necklace_286980270).  They are both quite neutral colours meaning they will go with everything so I am really happy with these purchases and hope I get a lot of wear from them.  I really like New Look for jewellery actually because they have some really pretty pieces that are always on trend but won’t break the bank.

I hope you enjoyed this post!
